Integrating AI, Environmental Management Systems, and Animal Welfare Standards for Sustainable Farm Certification

Sustainable farm certification has become increasingly important for ensuring environmentally responsible agricultural practices while maintaining high standards of animal welfare. Conventional certification methods rely heavily on periodic inspections and manual documentation, often resulting in inconsistent assessments, delayed reporting, and limited transparency. This paper proposes an integrated framework that combines Artificial Intelligence (AI), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and animal welfare standards to enhance sustainable farm certification. The proposed framework utilizes IoT sensors, computer vision, wearable animal monitoring devices, and machine learning algorithms to continuously monitor environmental conditions, assess livestock welfare, and evaluate compliance with sustainability requirements. AI-driven predictive analytics enable early detection of environmental risks and welfare issues while supporting automated certification decision-making and reporting. Performance evaluation demonstrates that the proposed framework achieves superior results compared with conventional certification approaches, improving certification accuracy from 84.6% to 96.8%, environmental compliance from 80.8% to 94.6%, and animal welfare detection from 81.4% to 95.2%. The framework also reduces inspection time from 18 hours to 7 hours, increasing operational efficiency and transparency. By integrating environmental sustainability and animal welfare into a unified intelligent certification platform, the proposed approach supports evidence-based decision-making, regulatory compliance, and continuous farm monitoring. The framework provides a scalable and reliable solution for modern livestock farming, contributing to sustainable agricultural development, responsible resource management, and improved certification practices.
